Payment/Insurance
I do not accept any insurances – this is referred to as Out of Network.
Payment is due at the time of service. This can be by cash, check, credit card, or by FSA/HSA card. My Rates are under the heading ‘Services’ on this website.
Your insurance may reimburse you if it covers Out of Network. Contact your insurance coverage to see if you have this benefit and how it works. If you have Out of Network coverage, I can create a specific receipt that they require for you to submit.
Cancellation
For any No Shows for an appointment, or if you fail to give 48 hours notice, you will be charged 150.00. I do not charge for emergencies or significant illnesses.
Scheduling Appointments
I prefer to speak to the person calling for the evaluation/appointment before scheduling. If it is for a younger teen or young adult, I will discuss the details with the parent, but still would like to speak briefly over the phone with the person who will be evaluated if appropriate.
You can reach me by email at Cheryl.tisler@CherylTislerMD.com (but please realize this may not be HIPPA compliant for confidentiality). My office phone is 585-394-6656 where you can leave a message with the best way of contacting you. I do not have any staff working with me. My hours are by appointment only.
Current patients
Current patients can reach me outside of appointments by calling my cell phone (585-727-1517) for emergencies, texting for appointment changes or more urgent medication refills, or by emailing me at Cheryl.tisler@cheryltislermd.com
Taking the time to listen and understand is a major part of the evaluation and becomes an important part of the treatment. The initial evaluation will provide us with a comprehensive direction and corresponding appropriate methods of treatment.
The individual is ultimately in control of their healing, leaving my role as a coach and educator. Options will be offered to create a unique balance of conventional and evidence based non-traditional therapies tailored for each person.
I learned over 20 years ago that the biological training I had in Psychiatry, even with the Bio-Psycho-Social method through the University of Rochester, was not enough for many people and I began to appreciate the body-mind connection as well as the body-mind-spirit-heart connection. Empowering a person to begin their journey to recovery, whatever level that is for that person, is a gratifying feeling for me as an advocate.
Whether you’ve never seen a mental health professional before, or have failed many different treatments, or have stabilized on medications but want to feel even better trying natural treatments, or have a chronic disease that may be affecting your energy or mood, an evaluation may be helpful for you through my practice.
Very few psychiatrists do evaluations using the mind-body-spirit perspective, and most only treat now with medications, not doing any psychotherapy, and have a separate therapist being involved. In addition the shortage of psychiatrists has made finding someone very difficult, even with the increasing mental health nurse practitioners who can prescribe. Primary care doctors are understandably not comfortable with evaluating complicated psychiatric issues but are often the ones forced to try something, which is not always best.
I can offer medications, holistic treatments addressing early pre-conditions of physical issues, psychotherapy (if more intensive or specific therapy is needed, referrals will be recommended), and other holistic modalities.
Downloadable forms are below as named PDF’s. Please complete and sign these before the visit and bring them with you to your evaluation visit.
