About Me

Tisler-Cheryl-017

I have been practicing Integrative Psychiatry since 2013 after doing Conventional Psychiatry since 1993.  I have been living in Rochester and Canandaigua NY since I completed my MD degree at the University of Utah Medical School in 1988. I then trained for 5 years at the U of R Strong Memorial Hospital residency in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have lived in several states and Germany , while growing up, but I call the Finger Lakes area of NY my home. I have worked in outpatient clinics, hospitals, and private practice, teaching medical students and post graduate students in psychiatry.

Since 2013 I felt it was important to incorporate what had been alternatives in a holistic way into my private practice after several stress related illnesses were reversed by alternative/holistic treatment and not by conventional treatments. I started learning the holistic evidence-based modalities in 2003 and I continually learn more.  Integrative psychiatry is essentially combining the best of conventional psychiatry and the best of evidence-based holistic treatments,  to get to the root cause of symptoms, and to create homestasis in the body so that the body can heal itself.

I have attended many trainings and conferences including an intensive Psychiatry Masterclass in Integrative Psychiatry in Denver CO, in Spring of 2016. I also attended Integrated Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH), Functional Medicine courses through A4M, a Symposium Medicus course on Integrative Medicine, Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine courses, American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine course work (now AIHM), Harvard Medical school course on Natural Remedies for Psychiatry in 2003, and multiple other online or written courses and conferences.
